Ladysmith is looking at charging people half price if they only want to use the showers at the Community Centre.
Mayor Aaron Stone says it’s not uncommon.
Stone says there was some confusion about whether the move was meant to address the needs of homeless people, but he says that’s a completely separate issue they’re also considering.
He says no-barrier showers are something they’re looking at offering, but local community groups including the Ladysmith Rescource Centre and the Homeless Committee are still working on some alternative solutions.
The shower-only admission fee will likely be finalized at the next ladysmith Council meeting.
