Routley says Throne Speech shies away from LNG

A relatively short Throne Speech kicked off a new sitting at the Legislature today. In it, the Clark Government promised to focus on eight key sectors to build a strong economy.

Doug Routley, MLA for Nanaimo-North Cowichan and one of the NDP’s forestry critics says that’s an unusual about-face by the government.

Meanwhile, province is also promising to work with the federal government on a fair deal for BC producers under a new softwood lumber agreement with the US. Routley says he wants to see BC take a fairly aggressive stance during the renegotiations.
