Holman says Gulf Islanders “paying more, getting less” on health care

The MLA for Saanich North and the Islands is calling on the health minister to reverse cuts to nursing service on Mayne and Galiano Islands.

Gary Holman says groups like the Galiano Health Care Society weren’t even told the cuts were coming, and the community is strongly opposed.  He made his case during Monday’s Question Period at the Legislature

Health minister Terry Lake says the extra nursing services were at one time the front line for the Islands, but since new family physicians have set up practices it’s no longer needed because those doctors are now providing effective primary care.
