The Environment Minister is saying people in Shawnigan Lake need to let the legal process play out on a controversial permit for a toxic soil dump.
Cowichan Valley MLA Bill Routley is continuing to push the minister to cancel the permit, but Mary Polak says she won’t interfere
Routley also pressed the minister during Tuesday’s Question Period in Victoria to reveal how much the province spent fighting the appeal.
He says the legal bill for concerned Shawnigan residents, and local governments has already topped $1,200,000.
