FACs say January traffic numbers add to evidence that high fares and cuts are hurting BC Ferries

BC Ferries’ passenger numbers are still trending in the wrong direction according to Brian Hollingshead of the Ferry Advisory Committee Chairs.

The numbers vary from route to route but overall, traffic is down again for January, while the rest of BC’s tourism and travel industry is seeing increases across the board.

Hollingshead says it’s simple;  travellers are turned off by the high fares.

Hollingshead says the blame can’t be placed entirely on BC Ferries.

He says the FAC Chairs believe a decade of government underfunding has led to the high fares and service cuts they’re convinced are turning customers away.
