Crowder’s bill on derelict vessels up in the Commons

Nanaimo Cowichan MP Jean Crowder is hoping to see her private members bill on derelict vessels take a step closer to being law on Thursday.

The bill is scheduled for debate in the Commons.

And local governments from throughout her riding have been passing motions of support for the bill, which would give the Coast Guard responsibility.

Aaron Stone is the Mayor of Ladysmith.

He says after years of looking for a solution, they’re hopeful this could be a key step.

Even if there’s a vote in favour, Crowder’s bill would still have to go to committee, and more votes in the Commons.
