Maple Bay man getting closer to finishing solar energy farm

A Cowichan Valley man is moving closer towards realizing his dream of owning a solar energy farm.

Peter Nix is a retired environmental consultant and Cowichan Carbon Buster. He says he is in the process of installing 192 solar panels on his property in Maple Bay.

Nix says the project has been delayed because BC Hydro may have to put in a new transformer next to his place, one that can handle more electricity.

He says he hopes to have everything up and running within the next month, at which point, he can start looking at the possibility of selling electricity back to BC Hydro.

Nix says he has about 143 thousand dollars invested into the project and he has not gone over budget so far.
