Hep A shots offered in Nanaimo after Superstore employee tests positive

Island Health says it’s offering people Hepatitis A vaccinations after a cashier at the Superstore location on Metral Drive in Nanaimo tested positive for the infection.

Anyone working at the store, and customers who may have eaten raw produce or unwrapped food bought at the store and not cooked afterwards is eligible.

The times involved were: Feb 25th in the late afternoon and evening, Feb 26 in the afternoon and evening, Feb 27 in the late afternoon and evening, all day on March 1st and in the evening on March 4th.

Island Health says people who used the self-checkout are not considered at risk.

A drop-in immunization clinic is taking place take Saturday from 10am to 3pm at the Beban Park Social Centre.

People from outside Nanaimo can contact their local Public Health Unit if they can’t get to the clinic.
