The people behind the Stolen Hearts of Cowichan documentary have a special event planned this week.

Producer Patricia Dawn has been looking at the huge number of Cowichan families losing children to the foster system and trying to understand why.

On Friday, she’ll be joined by Nanaimo-Cowichan MP Jean Crowder for a presentation of shorts, and highlights of the project so far.

Crowder says a lot of what’s happening today is tied to the impact of residential schools.

The event starts at 6 at the Quw’utsun’ Cultural and Conference Centre, and it’s also a fundraiser for the project.
