City of Duncan to help fund Cowichan Regional Visitor Centre

The City of Duncan is doing its part to help the Cowichan Regional Visitor Centre deal with some potential rocky financial times in the future.

Mayor Phil Kent says Council has agreed to give the Duncan Cowichan Chamber of Commerce, which runs the centre, 30 thousand dollars.

He says even though the building is in North Cowichan, it still has an impact on Duncan.

Kent says Council also wants to meet with North Cowichan to talk about a cost-sharing formula for funding the centre in the future.

The chamber recently got word that some of the money it has received from Destination BC in the past won’t be available now.
