Bomb threat empties welfare office in downtown Duncan

Police swarmed an area around a welfare and social services office in downtown Duncan after a bomb threat on Wednesday afternoon.

North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP corporal Krista Hobday says the building was searched after somebody called another welfare office on the Lower Mainland, targeting the one on Government Street in Duncan.

She says police found nothing.

Last month, a bomb hoax emptied out the 7-Eleven at the intersection of the Trans-Canada Highway and Trunk Road.
