Province aims to stop alien mussels from invading BC waters

They can’t be found in BC lakes, and the province wants to keep it that way.

The provincial government’s investing 1.3 million dollars in an effort to keep invasive fresh-water mussels, including zebra and quagga mussels, from getting into BC waters.

Gail Wallin with the Invasive Species Council they’re helping to get the word out.

Wallin says the province is investing in mandatory boat inspections, especially along high-risk borders where boats will be coming into the province.
