New website hoping to attract more boaters to BC waters

Businesses with a stake in marine tourism are hoping a common sailor’s greeting will help make the web the first port of call for boaters planning a trip in BC waters.

The website Ahoy BC goes live April 15th

David Mailloux of the Nanaimo Port Authority is one of the people involved in the project.

He says it’s going to be a one stop shop for all the information boaters need to explore the entire BC Coast.

Mailloux says there’s a lot of support from the industry.

It’s estimated that marine tourism is worth about $200 million a year.
