SD68 trustees recommend reopening Cedar Secondary next year

Nanaimo Ladysmith School trustees are recommending reopening Cedar Secondary next year.

Six of the Board’s nin trustees supported that idea at last night’s Business Committee meeting.

Board Chair Steve Rae says they had already put plans to convert the school into an elementary school on hold, while they asked the public for feedback.

He says 1331 people filled out a survey as part of the “Your Voice 2015” consultation.

Rae says there will be a ratification vote on the recommendation at the Board’s next meeting.

Trustees also recommended SD68 provide a bus for Cedar students going to school in Ladysmith.
