North Cowichan councillor: BC vistor centres need stable funding

A North Cowichan councillor wants to see a motion about visitor information centre funding, and another one about infrastructure, addressed at the fall UBCM convention.

Kate Marsh says centres need stable funding to maintain services but aren’t getting enough money from Destination BC.

In terms of infrastructure, Marsh says local government gets a small chunk of total tax revenue in Canada but is responsible for 60 per cent of demands. She says that isn’t right.

Marsh says she wants the UBCM to put pressure on the Province to give 60 per cent of the Building Canada Fund directly to local government.
