Federal Employment Minister Pierre Poilievre continues his visit to the Island with a stop in Ladysmith Thursday morning.

Yesterday in Nanaimo he toured a local company, and signed a new job training deal with provincial ministers Shirley Bond and Michelle Stilwell.

Pollievre says they’re making changes so people who are on Social Assistance, but not collecting Employment Insurance, will be able to get training for jobs… jobs that actually exist.

During the stop in Ladysmith Pollievre is expected to make a call encouraging more people to sign up for the Universal Child Care Benefit. He says more than 23 thousand British Columbians are missing out
