Nanaimo RCMP say with the help of friends on the Lower Mainland they’ve discovered the owners of a camera found last month near Campbell River are from Switzerland.

Rolf and Regina Sidler and their young children were visiting Vancouver Island with friends from Port Moody when the camera was lost during a canoe portage along a trail near Campbell Lake.

The Sidlers returned to Klosters, Switzerland fearing the camera, and hundreds of photos of their trip, were gone for good.

After Nanaimo RCMP released some images from the camera that was turned in to them on June 15th, one of their friends from Port Moody saw a picture of herself on the TV news and put two and two together.

RCMP say arrangements are now being made to have the family’s camera and memory card sent to Switzerland.
