Police looking for man after armed robbery at Crofton liquor store

An armed robbery at the Crofton Hotel Wine and Beer located at 1534 Joan Avenue in Crofton has left the employee understandably shaken.

A masked man entered the store just before 11pm on Monday night, (July 20, 2015) wielding a knife and demanding all of the cash in the till.

The female employee handed over the cash and the man fled. Police victim services attended the scene and offered their services to the visibly shaken employee…this according to North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP Cpl. Krista Hobday.

The woman was the lone employee in the Wine and Beer Store and was only able to call 911 once the suspect left the store. She was able to offer the following description of the suspect and that she observed a dark coloured Sunfire fleeing the scene.
Suspect Description:

  • Caucasian man, very pale skin with freckles
  • 168cm (5’6″) with a slender build
  • Approximately 25 years old
  • Blue eyes
  • Spoke with an Australian accent
  • Wore a black balaclava mask with 2 turquoise horizontal stripes, a dark hoodie and gloves.

The North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP are requesting if you have information on this or any other crime, that you contact the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP at 250-748-5522, or alternately you may call Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477). You do not have to reveal your identity to Crime Stoppers.
