Major Crime Unit joins investigation of missing Penelakut Island woman

RCMP are bringing in the Island Integrated Major Crime Unit as they continue to investigate the disappearance of 18-year-old Delores Brown.

The young woman from Penelakut Island was last seen July 27th.

And after a ground search, an appeal to the public for information, and hours of police work there’s been no break in the case.

Cpl. Darren Lagan says the Major Crime Unit will now be working alongside Ladysmith RCMP.

“There focus is determining whether foul play is or is not involved in the disappearance of Delores and that’s a question that they are still looking to answer. We have nothing definitive to direct us either way on that question but they are looking for information from the public.”

Lagan says investigators are also still hoping for fresh information from the public.  He says police think Brown could be somewhere in the area from Duncan north to Nanaimo.
