The Cowichan and District SPCA has stopped taking applications for 27 Boston Terrier surrendered to the shelter.
Branch Manager Sandi Trent says they were inundated with more than 170 adoption applications.
She says some people have come forward saying they gave the breeder a down payment for a puppy before they surrendered.
Trent says, however, they’re still following the usual adoption application process, to ensure the puppies go to good home.
She says she’s happy there’s a lot of interest in adopting the Boston Terriers, but they also have many other dogs at the shelter who’ve been there for months who need a home
