North Cowichan, TNTBC swap land for conservation, flood management
North Cowichan has taken another step in ensuring the Flood Control Dike Project is completed.
Mayor Jon Lefebure says the Municipality and The Nature Trust of British Columbia have agreed to a land exchange.
He says it will allow North Cowichan to finish the dike system and a storm flood pumping station while giving the Trust a chance to conserve the Somenos Marsh.
Lefebure says the Municipality will get some land on the east and west sides of the TCH, north of Beverly Street, while transferring land north of the dike between the highway and dog park on Lakes Road.
