Captain killed in fish boat sinking was from Duncan
The Coroners Service has released the names of the men who drowned when their fishing boat sank off the West Coast of the Island last weekend.
One was a Duncan man; 55-year-old captain Wesley Hegglund.
The others were from Port Alberni, 48-year-old Keith Standing and 41-year-old Doug White.
All three were crew members on the 33-metre commercial fishing boat Caledonian, which was about 55 km west of Estevan Point north of Tofino when it capsized and sank. One man survived.
The Transportation Safety Board is investigating, along with the RCMP and the Coroners Service.
