Cowichan Malahat Langford candidates talk change and marijuana policy

It’s less than 2 weeks until voting day and candidates are making their final push.

Some polls have been suggesting it’s a tight race in Cowichan Malahat Langford; they’ve also been suggesting this campaign is about “change”.

Conservative Martin Barker wonders about that:

Fran Hunt Jinnouchi of the Greens thinks she knows what change people want.

Liberal Luke Krayenhoff says the idea of changes resonates for him.

Alistair MacGregor of the NDP says he thinks people are after a specific kind of change

Medical marijuana is a big industry on Vancouver Island, and the province is a hot spot in the debate over dispensaries, which means whether to legalize everyday use has become an election issue here in BC

Barker says his party has done more for medical users than any other… but that’s as far as they’ll go.

The Greens are taking the opposite tack, says Hunt-Jinnouchi.

Krayenhoff is a former RCMP officer… who says he’s done a “complete 180” on the issue; and favours legalization.

Alistair MacGregor of the NDP says they’re committed to decriminalization right away, and looking at legalization down the road.

The fifth candidate in the riding is Alastair Haythornthwaite of the Marxist Leninist Party.
