The thieves made off with a blower, two power saws along with some weed-eaters and Gale says plans are in the works to help prevent this from happening again.

Fate of South Cowichan Policing Services Still Up in the Air https://www.mycowichanvalleynow.com/25344/news/fate-south-cowichan-policing-services-still-air/ Tue, 05 Dec 2017 08:00:43 +0000 http://www.mycowichanvalleynow.com/?p=25344

The Solicitor General still hasn't made a decision regarding the fate of the Shawnigan Lake R.C.M.P. detachment.

It was expected that Mike Farnworth would have a decision on the future of policing in the South Cowichan by the end of November, but as it stands right now, no decision has been reached.

Green Party M.L.A. for the Cowichan Valley, Sonia Furstenau submitted more than one thousand petitions to the legislature and she says the Solicitor General understands the gravity of this decision.

She adds that she's hopeful that the Solicitor General and his staff will make the best decision possible.

At the outset of this process, the C.V.R.D. purchased a parcel of land in Mill Bay that could be turned into an R.C.M.P. detachment.
Furstenau thanks all of her constituents for getting the petition together, raising awareness, and getting the information out.
