Report banded geese

VIU and an undergraduate student are asking for the public’s help.
Stew Pearce, who is overseeing the Goose Project says 200 geese in the Nanaimo region were banded and now anyone spotting one is being asked to report it…..
The information about the movement of the geese will be gathered by Pearce who says it will be useful for municipalities looking for an approach to manage the goose population.

Pearce says many people are not aware that Canada Geese are not native to Vancouver Island and can cause damage to the environment, particularly, in the Nanaimo region, estuaries.
