23-year-old Duncan man in ICU after flipping car on Highway 18

A 23-year-old Duncan man is recovering in an intensive care unit at Victoria General Hospital after a car accident on Highway 18 west of Hall Road.

Police say the man had to be airlifted to hospital after he was thrown from his 1991 Subaru Loyale as it flipped several times.

They say they don’t think he was wearing a seat belt at the time of the accident which happened on December 11th, just after 11pm.

Cpl. Krista Hobday speaks for the North Cowichan/Duncan RCMP detachment.

Hobday says the man may not have lived if it wasn’t for three hockey players that spotted the crash and a nurse passing by that helped with first aid.
