Derelict vessel talk could be on the horizon between NDP, Liberals

Nanaimo-Ladysmith MP Sheila Malcolmson says she’s looking forward to working with Liberal MP Pam Goldsmith Jones to address the issue of derelict vessels along the coast.

A derelict boat recently ran aground in Granthams Landing, in Goldsmith-Jones’ riding of West Vancouver- Sunshine Coast.

Malcolmson says she hasn’t heard the Liberals mention derelict vessels in Parliament yet.

Crowder’s bill was aimed at making the Coast Guard the “receiver of wrecks.”

Despite having support from the Liberals, it was defeated by the Conservatives before the last election.
