Abbotsford RCMP crack cold case with Nanaimo connection

RCMP in Abbotsford have cracked a cold case thanks to DNA and the suspect is a Abbotsford.

Back in August of 1999, a 37-year-old woman was sexually assaulted, choked and threatened by an unknown man in Abbotsford.

At the time of the incident police were unable to find the perpetrator and the case remained unsolved until December of 2013 when some of the clothing from the case was sent for a DNA analysis.

The investigation continued and has now resulted in the arrest of 48 year old James Allen Redden.

He’s been charged with sexual assault, unlawful confinement and uttering threats.
