NDP pushing for prominent Canadian women to be on paper money

If the MP for Nanaimo-Ladysmith has her way, local late hero Dr. Frances Kelsey could one day be immortalized on Canadian paper money.

Sheila Malcolmson, who is also the NDP’s status of women critic, says the New Democrats are making a push to get prominent Canadian women featured on banknotes.

She says she has also written a letter to the finance minister to reverse a Conservative decision to remove a few special women off currency.

Malcolmson says there is already a petition circulating calling on woman to be honoured. She says over 64 thousand people have already signed it.
