Support from Victoria for Shawnigan

While a judicial review of the decision made by B.C.’s Environmental Appeal Board last May to uphold the contaminated soil site permit near Shawnigan Lake continues, the City of Victoria has shown support for the community.

Victoria council has unanimously passed a motion to support Shawnigan residents, Cowichan Tribes and the Cowichan Valley Regional District, in their fight to have the permit pulled at the South Island Resource Management site.

The resolution will be forwarded to the province for consideration.
