Lining up for French Immersion

Imagine having to spend your entire weekend lined up outside a school to register your child in french immersion come Monday morning.
That’s what a couple dozen parents chose to do to try to get their children into the program at Ecole Mount Provost this weekend.
There are 54 spots, with about half of them going to children who already have siblings in the school but the balance are up for grabs.
The school district in Nanaimo used to deal with the same kind of line up for french immersion but moved to a lottery system.
