Cowichan Valley Transit Workers could be on strike by Monday
Cowichan Valley Transit Workers could be picketing as early as the start of next week.
Unifor, the union representing the workers, and their employer First Canada are trying to hammer out a last-minute deal with a potential strike on the horizon.
The union’s Stu Shields says the workers had planned to serve their 72-hour strike notice, but haven’t done so yet, with crucial talks set for Thursday and Friday.
First Canada says if a new deal can’t be reached, the company will have to meet with BC Transit to figure out a plan for service as a work stoppage would impact all local routes and the Victoria commuter bus.
