No alternatives for transit riders

Bus drivers are poised to walk off the job tomorrow (Wed) morning and riders will have to find an alternate way to get around.
The labour dispute is between BC Transit’s contractor, First Canada, and their unionized employees.

First Canada operates the fixed-route service in the Cowichan Valley and Ladysmith, as well as the commuter service connecting the Cowichan Valley and Victoria.

According to the union, as many as 4 hundred people take the commuter every day.

Any job action will not affect handyDART services in the Regional District, nor does it apply to local service in the Lake Cowichan area, specifically routes 20 and 21.

However, Route 7 connections between Lake Cowichan and Duncan would be subject to potential service disruptions.
