Good news and bad for Lake Cowichan

The mayor of Lake Cowichan is still waiting to hear if his community will get the green light to go ahead with a project that would prevent boil water advisories.
He says the town has already been informed money for the second phase of a sewage plant upgrade will not be forthcoming…..
Ross Forrest says he expects to hear any day now whether or not their application for funding through the gas tax program is approved…..
Although not applied for by Lake Cowichan, the CVRD found out last week their application for funding to raise the weir at the lake was denied.
Forrest says that decision is disappointing, but not unexpected……
He says raising the weir would help store more water in the lake resulting in fewer water restrictions for people who live there.
