Duncan family finds a human foot on shore

A family from Duncan made a gruesome discovery this weekend during a visit to Botanical Beach.
Sooke RCMP were called to investigate after a shoe was found with what appeared to be human remains inside.

The B.C. Coroners Service confirmed the remains inside the left New Balance shoe are human and that it is hard to say how long the shoe was in the water.

They say the style of shoe was made sometime after March 2013.

There have been a series of similar incidents since 2007, including a few hoaxes, many of the deaths are believed to be suicides.

In total, 15 feet have washed up on the shores of B.C. and Washington State.
