Gabriola votes for transit

There should be a smooth transition from a pilot project to a taxpayer funded transit system for Gabriola Island.
That’s after the district voted for the service in a recent referendum.
Nanaimo Regional District director is Howard Houle says almost 14 hundred people voted and two thirds of them supported the service …….
The positive vote means the pilot transit project that was to end in May will become a taxpayer funded system at the beginning of June.
The system will cost one hundred and 30 thousand dollars to run, a coordinator will be hired along with two or three part time bus drivers.
