North Cowichan continues chipping away at budget

The mayor of the Municipality of North Cowichan says council will take into consideration the comments residents made during the 4 community meetings before the budget discussions wrap up.
Jon Lefebure says the community meetings were very positive and the public seemed to appreciate the chance to ask questions and officials appreciated the opportunity to provide answers.
He says concerns included the cost of the new police detachment but people also asked about getting more boots on the ground…..
But, Lefebure says council will take the discussions from the meetings into consideration.
Up to now, the property tax increase being considered would amount to 2 point 9-5 per cent with a reduction of 15 per cent for the light industry class.
