VIU students plan to ask Board to reject proposal

Vancouver Island University students can’t be sure whether or not the government is hearing them.
That’s because, according to Students Union spokesperson, Patrick Barbosa says they’ve sent an email and hand delivered a letter to the Ministry of Advanced Education but there’s been no response.
Barbosa says five BC universities are proposing a 6 and a half per cent increase in ancillary fees which goes against the government policy of limiting increases to 2 per cent per year…..
Students plan to make a plea to the Board of Governors when they meet in Parksville today (Thursday) asking them to reject the proposal.
