School lock down in Nanaimo

The Woodlands High School was locked down while Nanaimo RCMP officers searched for a violent shoplifter armed with a knife.

It all started around 9:20 Tuesday morning when the suspect tried to use some stolen credit cards at a hardware store.

When confronted by employees the suspect produced a knife and fled on foot.

RCMP Constable Gary O’Brien says because the chase was in the vicinity of the Woodlands High School the school was locked down….

 

 

O’Brien says the 32 year man, who is well known to local police, was arrested for Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to the Public Peace, Breach of Probation and Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card.
