Earls Trades Canadian Beef For US Alternative

Vancouver-based Earls restaurant chain announced this week they will source their beef fromĀ a US supplier that is Certified Humane – meaning they will no longer be using Canadian beef from Alberta.
BC Agriculture Council DirectorĀ Duncan Barnett lives and works on a ranch raising grass and beefĀ cattle near Williams Lake, BC. BarnettĀ agrees that animal care is extremely important, but believes Earls missedĀ a big opportunity to continueĀ supporting local.
Barnett says Earls’ decision was disappointing becauseĀ the same high standards can be found at home in Canada.
He encourages BC farmers to open their gates up for tours and open houses so the public can see how much care goes into providing their food.
