North Cowichan residents will see a 2.95% increase to their residential taxes this year – meaning the average $320,000 home would cost the homeowner a bit more than $1400 annually in municipal taxes.
Mayor Jon Lefebure says some residents are not aware that North Cowichan Council is only responsible for a portion of your total tax bill.
Lefebure says a highlight for him was including asset management into the budget. He calls it a progressive decision by council.
Mayor Jon Lefebure says council was really happy they were able to keep the increase under 3%.
