New Cowichan Valley hospital rezoning moves forward

A rezoning request to accommodate a new hospital for the Cowichan Valley continues to churn its way through the system at the Municipality of North Cowichan.

In the meantime, it is the final year of construction on the North Island Hospitals Project.

Chief Project Officer Tom Sparrow says they will take possession of the facilities, in Comox and Campbell River around this time next year.

He says there will be a flurry of activity over the next year to prepare for the transition…

Sparrow says after they take possession of the hospital, they will spend about four months preparing the sites and training staff at the new site.

It is expected the decision on a rezoning application in the Cowichan Valley will be completed by July 2016.
