Maternal health consultation on Salt Spring today

The NDP critic for northern and rural health will be visiting some communities on Vancouver Island and Salt Spring Island this week.

Jennifer Rice says she’s on a fact finding mission to learn more about the experiences of new or expectant mothers when it comes to rural health services….

Rice says she’s also heard of pregnant women having to travel 4 hours for an ultrasound or having to leave their home to stay in a larger centre with better services a month before their due dates.
