Stage Two Watering Restrictions in Effect Monday

Residents in the Cowichan Valley are asked to do their part in water conservation efforts, as an early spring has brought drought conditions to the region. CVRD Environmental Services Manager Kate Miller explains.
Miller says Level 3 or Very Dry Drought Conditions currently exist in the Cowichan Valley, as there are record low levels in all our local water courses.
To try and manage drought conditions in the valley, Level 2 watering restrictions across the Valley go into effect on Monday, there is no open burning permitted, and possible angling restrictions may be imposed in the coming months.
As of Monday, even numbered houses are able to water their lawns on only Wednesdays and Saturdays, while odd numbered houses can only water on Thursdays and Sundays. Watering times remain between 7 and 9 am OR 7 and 9 pm.
