Border Collie and a Good Samaritan Rescue Chemainus Man

Thanks to a Border Collie and a good Samaritan, a missing senior is home safe.
North Cowichan Duncan RCMP were called to a Chemainus home on the evening of May 28th after an 80 year old senior did not return home from his afternoon walk and his daughter became concerned. When a kind stranger returned the dog home, the daughter knew her father was in trouble.
The 7 year old Border Collie left his owner where he had fallen, and made his way to a roadway, where he laid down, drawing attention to himself. A neighbourhood group, along with police and Cowichan Search and Rescue began a search operation and after 7 hours in the woods, the man was located and taken to a local hospital. He was released with only minor injuries.
RCMP say taking a trusty canine partner with you on your daily hikes, and making sure their tag information is up to date can save your life. Also, if you find a dog that seems out of place, investigate instead of walking past.
