The Duncan Cowichan Chamber of Commerce sent three representatives to the Annual General Meeting of the BC Chamber of Commerce last week, to support local businesses in our region.
President Julie Scurr says our Chamber was instrumental in bringin forward a policy to ask the government to include tax relief for wineries, cideries and distilleries.
Scurr says this will also encourage expansion and development of the winery, cidery and distillery agri-tourism sector in BC.
Another policy supported by our local chamber was a recommendation to levy the hotel tax to short-term residential units, such as Airbnb, to level the playing field for tourism-related businesses
