50 Dead in Florida Nightclub Shooting

Police in Orlando say a man armed with an assault rifle opened fire inside a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida early Sunday, killing 50 people and wounding at least 53.
Police Chief John Mina says the shooting began around 2am ET at the entrance to Pulse Nightclub. One officer exchanged gunfire with the suspect, who then went inside.

Mina says the gunman was holding patrons hostage at one point, before police decided to attempt a rescue and were able to help about 30 people escape.

There was another exchange of gunfire between the gunman and police and the suspect was killed. The mass shooting is being investigated as a possible “domestic terrorism incident.”
