The father of the gunman in the Orlando shooting is condemning his son’s actions. This after Omar Mateen killed 49 people in a shooting rampage at a nightclub on the weekend before he was killed in a police standoff.
In the meantime, Sunday morning, organizers of Nanaimo’s first Pride Parade were gathering for the festivities when many of them first heard the news.

She says prior to the opening ceremonies at the festival following the parade there was an opportunity for a moment of silence and a number of MLA’s were there to say a few words of support to the community.
