Nanaimo victim identified

The BC Coroners Service has confirmed the identity of a man who died following an interaction with RCMP in Nanaimo on Tuesday morning.

He was 49 year old Craig Andrew Ford, a resident of Nanaimo.

Ford was shot during an encounter with Nanaimo RCMP that happened around 10:45, in the 3600-block of Country Club Drive in Nanaimo.

Ford was taken to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital but could not be resuscitated.

The BC Coroners Service and the Independent Investigations Office continue to investigate the death.
