2015 Real Estate Statistics in the Cowichan Valley

The Vancouver Island Real Estate Board has released the stats from a 2015 buyer profile survey.

In the Cowichan Valley, 25 per cent of those who bought a home were moving within the Valley. Of those, 41 per cent had lived in the Valley for more than 20 years.

According to the survey, almost 68 per cent of those moving to the Valley came from elsewhere in Canada and 10 per cent of those moved here from Alberta. 7 per cent were moving back to the community from somewhere else and had been gone for between 6 and 10 years.

Janice Stromar, President elect of the Vancouver Island Real Estate Board and Nanaimo realtor says very few homes are being purchased by overseas buyers.

First-time Buyers accounted for just about 13 per cent of the purchases in the Cowichan Valley area and about 61 per cent of buyers were buying a home for retirement purposes.
